The joy of RSS

If we avoid all the techy goodness we can safetly say that this is a good thing as it allows anyone (well with todays current mainstream software) to have all their subscribed content show up in one place. To illustrate this could be either Internet Explorer 7 or Microsoft Outlook 12.

Now whilst this all sounds bloody marvelous it looks even better when you can see it.

My blog.
Here you can see my blog as it apears in Internet Explorer 7 running under Windows Vista.

Whilst this is great you have to fire up your web broswer each time to read it. You also need to use the navigation that I have defined in the blog to find your way around.

RSS view in IE7
Here is the same page being viewed as an RSS feed in IE7.

How to leave a comment on this blog

Who would have thought that this would have been so potentially confusing. I have had several people tell me now that leaving comments on the blog is a pain as they are prompted to get a Google account (Yes I heard you Jeanne).

Well the good news is that you do not need to do this. When you are entering a comment you need to make sure that you select the "Anonymous" option. Still in the spirit of happy blogging comments please find the one and only quick illustrated guide to leaving a comment on this blog (oh did I say it was illustrated, and if you click on the pretty pictures you will get a fullsize version).

Step 1.
In order to submit a comment for a blog posting click on the comments link. If you look at the link you will see that it reflects the number of comments.

In this case clicking on "0 comments" will allow you to add your own comment.

Step 2.
This is the moment you have been waiting for! Type in your comments in the space provided.

When you have finished have a look at the next step for information on what you need to do to actualy post your wonderfull text now!

Step 3.
Type the word verification characters as you see them to confirm that you are a real human being and not some evil spam posting rogue computer based spam pharming application from hell.

Check the "Anonymous" button unless you want to use your gmail account. If you do not click the "Anonymous" button you will be prompted to signup for a gmail account. When you have clicked the "Anonymous" button the option to enter a gmail user name and password go's away.
This is a good thing!
Now that everyone knows how to enter a comment I expect to see lots and lots of comments and not hear any more complaints about this being such a difficult process :-)
