Yay! More snow!

What a strange day. No snow in the forecast, warm day and yet along comes five o'clock and it starts snowing. Even better it's continued and started to stick. So we decided to do what any normal person would do and took the dogs for a walk to enjoy it!

Griselda at Snoqualmie falls

This picture was taken at Snoqualmie Falls during the recent snow storms and is the the first picture I have Photoshop'ed. The picture is cropped to remove some unnecessary content and has been edited to put the focus on Griselda by blurring the background slightly.

I suspect once I get to be proficient with PhotoShop I am going to want to go back and work on this image some more to fix up my work.

Some more snow pictures for CJ and Pauline

Tonight we picked up CJ and Pauline at the airport and took them home to discover that most of the snow had melted. Here are some more pictures of what the house looked like whilst we were there (see there was some snow ;-) )

And the snow starts to melt

Alas the snow has melted and the mongel hoards are upon us once again. It was good whilst it lasted. I took these pictures this afternoon of the Snoqualmie river near Fall City.

Digging out cars

It was quite spectacular seeing how much snow accumulated on the cars. As you can see we had to go wading through several feet of snow jsut to get to the car! Unfortunately the snow that we removed from the car ended up coming up to the windows.

Here is what a Volkswagen Bug looks like after a week of snow

And what it looks like after your nice friends have removed it.

Digging out the driveway

We are nice people! Christmas day we went to go and make sure CJ and Pauline's place was not destroyed in the snow and to make sure that we would be able to get in when we fetched them from the airport. As you can see Duvall had a lot more snow than us and we needed to dig out the driveway in order to be able to get the car in.

Yup, its past my knees

A balmy 19

Normaly I would say this is to cold for me, but based on some of our recent tempratures this seems quite the hear wave.

More snow

I love winter! I also love four wheel drive, winter tires and good insulation. This morning we had some more snow that covered all the roads again. There has been a lot of very vocal complaining about the way that Seattle has handled the clearing of the roads and the general ineptitude of people to get around in the snow. Fortunatly this has not been an issue at all on the East side.

Some city roads in Redmond are still a bit gnarly to drive on due to the surface being a large, lumpy ice rink. This makes for a very slipery surface.

Brilliant marketing at work

With all of the recent snow storms going on over here I thought that this was the most brilliant piece of marketing for selling his car

I am like a tourist or a kid in a candy store with all this snow. Here are a few more random snaps from today.

Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dummer

I was amazed to look out of my window today to see two people attempting to walk on the frozen lake. I mean what the heck? Did they honestly think that it would be frozen solid...

Do you think it is frozen?

I don't know, let's find out

Yup, there is water under there. Let me run away from it quickly.

Aaah, this patch over here could not possibly be as thin. Let me stand on it to test it

Who would have thought. It's also wet.

Oh G-d I feel a piluk. The nice man in the office has been taking pictures of us arsing around.

Snow day at the office

What an awesome day! Hardly anyone made it into the office this morning so it's nice and quite (great for getting lots of work done). The view's around campus are stunning! Everything is covered in a fresh layer of snow and looks like a postcard picture.

Let it snow!

Snow driving fail

We went and did some exploring on some of the logging roads that go down to the base of Snoqualmie falls and as you can see the roads are getting a tad sketchy. Unfortunately this is an all to common site at the moment. People going to fast or not paying attention and ending up in a ditch. Fortunately nobody was in the car when we had a look.
