K2 why do you suck so?

Don’t you just hate it when a company artificially inflates prices? Today I had just this experience with my mountain bike. You see I had the misfortune of a small nut coming of a bolt that holds the rear-suspension arm in place on my bike. My first thoughts where that this would be incredibly insignificant and I went to REI (where I purchased the bike) to see if they had a spare.

Much to my chagrin they did not. In fairness the bike is a few years old so it is understandable. Not one to admit defeat I decided that I would contact the company (K2 Bike http://k2bikes.com) and would order a replacement bolt and/ or nut. Now to put this into perspective I am thinking that this at most a $0.50 part and that it would probably be grossly marked up to around $5.00. I most certainly did not expect to have to move the 5 over even further to the $50.00 that they are asking for the “attachment kit” that includes replacement bolts for the rear-suspension.

Needless to say I will not be purchasing the $50.00 replacement part and will see what I can find online that will work instead (heck it’s only a bolt after all) and will not be recommending or purchasing another product from K2 as a result.

So in closing I guess the morale of the story is that customers don’t like getting screwed by corporations and are quite happy to take their business and recommendations elsewhere.
